Three foods that can bother you when mixed with papaya

Find out what experts advise not to eat with fruit and the alternatives for using it at other times of breakfast or at other times of the day

If you’re the type of person who loves to eat papaya for breakfast, here are three tips on foods that you shouldn’t mix with fruit. See below:

Papaya and citrus fruits

Citrus fruits, such as orange, blackberry and strawberry, with papaya do not make a good combination. This is because they are all rich in vitamin C. In other words, the combination can cause acidity, heartburn and digestive system disorders.

With fermented foods

You can stop combining papaya with kefir or accompany it with kombucha. Mixing with these probiotics tends to cause gas and bloating due to the mixture of papaya enzymes and fermented substances.

Milk and derivatives

Perhaps this can be confusing, as it is common to see so many people taking a papaya smoothie, that is, with milk. But experts advise avoiding eating fruit with milk, cheese, yogurt and other beverage derivatives. The reason? The papain enzyme runs the risk of curdling milk, causing gas and colic.

Advise

Papaya itself is a fruit full of benefits, rich in fiber and enzymes that aid digestion. Therefore, eating two slices a day helps improve intestinal function. In addition to being raw, there is the alternative of mixing it in a fruit salad, preparing creams and making juices or smoothies. Other options for consuming it at different times of the day are ice cream, jam, cake and sweeter creams, such as papaya with cassis.
