Watch: Victoria’s Secret meets Brazilian transsexuals and fifty-year-old tops

The Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show returned triumphantly on October 15, 2024 in New York, marking a new era for the brand with a focus on diversity and inclusion. The event stood out for its representation of models of different ages, sizes, origins and gender identities.

The show celebrated inclusion with the participation of trans and plus-size models: Brazilian Valentina Sampaio made history as the first trans model to model for the brand; Laverne Cox, actress and trans activist, made her debut on the Victoria’s Secret catwalk; Ashley Graham and Paloma Elsesser represented plus size beauty, breaking traditional standards.

The participation of Brazilians was notable: Adriana Lima and Alessandra Ambrosio returned to the catwalk after years of absence; Isabeli Fontana paraded to the tune of “Moonlit Floor” by singer Lisa.

The show also featured ’90s supermodels, now in their 50s: Eva Herzigova, 51, dazzling in a black lace dress; Carla Bruni, 56, made a memorable entrance in a perforated black jumpsuit; Kate Moss, 50, made her belated debut on the Victoria’s Secret runway; Tyra Banks, 50, rounded out the team of top veterans.

Musical shows

The show was embellished with several musical performances: Lisa from Blackpink opened the event with a solo performance; South African singer Tyla gave her second performance of the evening; The legendary Cher, 78, closed the show with “Do you believe in life after love?”.

This Victoria’s Secret return to the catwalk was not just a fashion show, but a statement of change. Including trans and plus size models of different ages and backgrounds, along with several musical performances, the event marked the beginning of a new era in the fashion industry.

The brand responded to the requests of a more aware public, celebrating beauty in all its forms and reaffirming that fashion and sensuality have no limits of age, size or gender identity.
