Your hunt for the best DIY ideas is over!
Plastic lids are an ideal material for handmade items. They’re small, making them easy to store, they come in a variety of colors and sizes, and last but not least, they don’t cost anything. So don’t rush to throw them away: here’s what you can do with them!
Advent wreath
How difficult your creative project will be, you decide for yourself. Here, for example, are two options: making the first crown will take half an hour, the second – one and a half to two hours. Discover the trick: pierce the plastic lids with a well-heated needle or awl. This type of decoration has a big advantage: you can throw it away after the holidays with a clear conscience, and make a new one for the following New Year. (Why not make it a family tradition?)

Do you want to add a little brightness to your home? Make an original curtain like this: for this you will need covers (lots of covers!), a strip of wood, a thread or fishing rope and self-tapping hooks. You need to make holes in the lids, string them on a fishing line, and then attach the resulting “beads” to self-tapping screws screwed into the wooden base.
Educational toy for children
Draw letters on plastic covers, assemble them into sets, add a small picture – and you will get an excellent educational toy that will help children recognize and write their names or the names of animals and objects.
Lamp
Got a glue gun and a free evening? Then this creative night light project made from plastic lids is just what you need! Buy a socket with a wire, a switch and a light bulb in any market and get to work.
Laundry basket
This project can take a year, depending on how many plastic bottle caps you have. Besides that, to create a perfectly ventilated laundry basket, you’ll need three other things: a piece of thick cardboard, a glue gun, and a little enthusiasm.
Rug for the bathroom or hallway
As you might guess, a gun is not suitable for this project – as moisture will settle on the carpet and the glue is unlikely to hold together the lids that someone walks on regularly. You will therefore need to secure the elements using fishing line: thread it through the holes made with a hot needle, so that the threads pass through.
Hot support
Of course, you can’t put a pan from the fire on such a mat – the plastic would melt. But for hot cups or plates, the rack is perfect and will also add a bright touch to the space. Decide for yourself how to make it – with glue or fishing line: both methods are suitable.
Picture
Plastic lids can be used to make an impressive painting, and it’s not as difficult as it seems. First copy the color drawing onto cardboard or a wooden board, then sort the covers by color and glue them to the draft. After that, all you have to do is wait for the glue to dry and you can hang the finished work on the wall.
flower pot
The flowerpot is made according to the same principle as a laundry basket – the only difference is that the base – an ordinary five-liter plastic bottle – must be left inside.
Knitted toy
Can you knit? There are dozens of instructions on the Internet that help you use hook and thread to turn a plastic bottle cap into a miniature toy – for example, into such a cute cactus.
It’s not just bottle caps that are suitable for DIY: see what you can do with a wine bottle, an old pillowcase or a bottle of laundry gel.
