Chocolate chip cake: find out how to prepare it to serve at parties

Instead of buying a ready-made cake that might not be to your taste, try preparing it the same day, using simple ingredients and saving on party costs.

Chocolate chip cake

Time: 2 hours

Performance: 12 servings

Difficulty: easy

Ingredients:

  • 200 g of margarine
  • 2 cups sugar (tea)
  • 4 eggs (whites and yolks separated)
  • 2 cups (tea) of wheat flour
  • 1 tablespoon of yeast
  • 100g grated coconut
  • 100 g of chocolate sprinkles
  • Margarine for greasing

Filling:

  • 1 can milk (use empty condensed milk can to measure)
  • 1 tablespoon margarine
  • 1 tablespoon corn starch
  • 5 cups ready-made whipped cream
  • 1 cup chocolate sprinkles

Preparation method:

  1. In a mixer, beat the margarine with the sugar until it becomes pasty.
  2. Add the egg yolks, one at a time, whisking continuously until you obtain a soft cream.
  3. Add the sifted flour with the yeast, alternating with the milk and then beat to combine.
  4. Add the grated coconut, the chocolate chips and the whipped egg whites, mixing delicately with a spoon.
  5. Pour into a large, greased round pan and place in a preheated medium oven for 40 minutes.
  6. Meanwhile, for the filling, heat the condensed milk, milk, margarine and cornstarch in a pan over medium heat, stirring until thickened.
  7. Once cold, add half the whipped cream, mix gently and add the sprinkles, mixing with a spoon.
  8. After the cake is baked and cooled, cut off the lid and carefully remove the crumb, leaving a 2cm border.
  9. Fill with 3/4 of the cream flakes, replace the lid and cover with the remaining whipped cream.
  10. If desired, sprinkle with sprinkles to decorate and serve immediately.
