At Todateen, we know that going into your first job interview can be nerve-wracking. What if we told you that with a little preparation you can do it the first time?
Therefore, we have separated the most common questions that appear in company selection processes (along with examples of how to answer them in the most professional way possible). Let’s go:
“Tell yourself”
This is a classic and usually comes first in the conversation with the recruiter. After all, he wants to know who the candidate in front of him is.
Any advice? Speak for up to two minutes about your background, your interests (and experiences, if you have any), and how you can contribute to the position you are applying for.
“Why do you want to work with us?”
This is also a big cliché. The recruiter’s goal here is to know whether you know the company and whether you fit in with its work culture. Therefore, it is essential to research the position you are applying for before the interview.
An example response might be something like: “I did some research on the company and was very interested in how you [cite algo positivo, como valores, cultura ou projetos]. I want to work here because I believe I can grow by learning from the team and contributing [sua habilidade ou característica].”
“What are your qualities?”
This question can catch many people off guard and end up staring at the obvious. The advice here is to choose between 2 or 3 strong points of your personality, but which have some relation to the vacancy for which you are applying. It would also be great if you provided examples of how you’ve already demonstrated these skills, because they might ask you right away.
“And what are your flaws?”
This is usually related to the previous question and leaves many people thinking endlessly about an answer. I know this seems like a strange question to ask, but the interviewer doesn’t expect you to belittle yourself. In fact, he wants to know what your limits are and what you are willing to do to overcome them.
The advice here is to choose a real weakness of yours, but one that does not demonstrate a lack of ability to perform the function of the vacancy for which you are applying. A good example? “I had difficulty delegating tasks in group work because I wanted to make sure everything went perfectly. But I learned to trust others more and work better in a team.”
“Why should we hire you?”
This is the golden question! It’s time for you to show what you have to offer the company and how you can contribute to the team. In your answer, highlight your qualities and make it clear that you are willing to learn. After all, this way they will understand that you want to grow within the company.
And that’s all! Now you are ready to best face your first job interview. Good luck!
