The actor gives a positive assessment of his life and career in an exclusive interview
“I have never had doubts. I never chose my profession, I was chosen by it”, begins Danton Mello, with a determination that only those who truly love what they do know. And no wonder, given that of his 49 years of life, there are 43 years of career, given that he made his first commercial at the age of six. At ten years old he was already in his first telenovela, playing Cuca de The cat ate (1985).
Since then, various roles have followed in a long and diversified career, which follows historical moments in television, such as when he participated in Everything is fine (1988), considered one of the best soap operas of all time, where he gave life to Bruno, or when he was Roberto, one of the protagonists of Hilda Hurricane (1998), historic Globo miniseries which today, thanks to Tik Tok, has a young and loyal fan base. He is currently back on TV as the antagonist Raimundo in the six o’clock soap opera, The girl of the momentand revealed how proud he is of his career (including a funny story involving his brother, fellow actor Selton Mello!).
Love and pride
Danton says that, during his adolescence, he even thought about choosing another profession, like any other young man, but it didn’t last long. “I soon realized that I already had a profession. I have dedicated and continue to dedicate my whole life to acting, it is the thing I love to do most”, he says.
Between TV, theatre, series and even dubbing, Danton’s career is marked by many phases. The actor comments that what makes him most proud of his career is precisely its diversity of roles. “I have always had a lot of peace of mind in my choices. I am part of the history of Brazilian television fiction. For me it is a very gratifying thing.”

When asked if people confuse the two, the actor laughs and tells a story. “All the time! It just so happened that I was hosting a show, and Selton was watching, in the audience, and as soon as the show was over, someone came to congratulate him, thinking it was me! And there was one day when I was at Leblon , a man stopped me and called me Selton, said he was a fan, I tried to explain to him that I was Danton, that Selton is my brother and so on, and he didn’t believe me!”, he said. he says, good-naturedly.
