What New Year’s toys will be in fashion during the 2024-2025 holiday season: the opinion of interior designers

It’s time for the glass and cotton figurines that you inherited from your great-grandmother! “Today we are seeing a move towards jewelry linked to family history. People choose objects that have special meaning to them, rather than following the rules of a particular style. It’s a big trend: mixing old and new toys, and adding personalized and handmade items creates the warm atmosphere we all need these days,” says designer and event organizer Azi Jazestani .

According to Jazestani, unusual trees – glass, metal, wood and felt – are definitely in fashion this year. “Their vibrant hues and unusual textures add a playful, whimsical touch to holiday decor,” she says. “Metal trees decorated with crystal and clear tinsel are the perfect way to ring in the New Year with a touch of glitz and glamour.”

However, keep in mind: if you want not only to add a few new figures to the shelves, but to replace the real Christmas tree with something unconventional and unusual, then the decorations should be restrained: Jazestani advises choosing a certain color palette and stick to it.

Disco is back and has now made its way into the world of interior design, with #discodecor garnering 38 million views on TikTok. According to trend expert Dayna Isom Johnson, this season you can safely replace the star on the tree with a disco ball hanging above, or several small ones instead of toys: sparkling light reflections that scatter mirrors will create the right party atmosphere.

“Candy Land decor can be seen everywhere this holiday season, from ornaments to throw pillows to holiday accents,” says Jazestani. According to her, it’s all about pastel colors and ambiance: whimsical gingerbread houses, candies and sweet decorations take us back to childhood and fill us with a feeling of magic.

“It’s definitely the year of the bow,” says interior designer Heather Taylor. “This seductive and feminine trend can be highlighted in different ways: tie ribbons on candlesticks, add them to the Christmas tree, make a garland – they can decorate anything.”

The beauty of bows is that you can vary their sizes: you can make small ones for each toy, or you can replace them with a huge star on the Christmas tree. You can attach them to literally anything – choose a certain color and you will combine the festive design of individual parts with ribbons into a single whole.

Another trend this season is the emphasis on quality over quantity. “People are tired of cheap garlands and balloons. Now they focus on special and unique jewelry, ones that reflect their style and interests. Consider splurging on a piece that will last for years, rather than becoming boring by the next vacation, says interior designer Monique Bonner.
