Tasteatlas, a world gastronomic guide, publishes the ranking and Greece wins first place

Brazil ranked 16th on the list of the 100 best foods in the world published by food guide Tasteatlas. Despite the good ranking, many were surprised that the country was behind the United States, which occupies 13th position and is known for fast food, with burgers and fried chicken.

“My God, it was sad to lose American food,” lamented Brazilian chef Jose Luis Cerqueira de Carvalho.

“How the hell did the United States manage to get into the top 20?” asked one Internet user.

Among the Brazilian foods that have been successful around the world are picanha – which ranked 3rd among the best dishes in the world – beef steak, feijoada, tropeiro beans and cheese bread.

The top 5 consisted of: Greece (1st), Italy (2nd), Mexico (3rd), Spain (4th) and Portugal (5th).

“Sun… sea… olive oil… Mediterranean power”, wrote one internet user talking about the Greek conquest.
