The Municipal Health Department of Rio de Janeiro informed the journalist on Friday the 13th that Gastón remains in a “very serious” state of health.
The Argentine tourist was shot on Thursday the 12th. He was rescued and taken to the Souza Aguiar municipal hospital, in the center of Rio de Janeiro.
According to the Civil Police, investigations are underway at the Special Tourism Support Police Station (Deat), an examination has already been carried out at the site of the shooting and witnesses have been interviewed.
“The officers are carrying out investigations to identify the perpetrator of the crime, encouraged by the leaders of the criminal faction that exploits the community,” the police added in a statement.
The State Secretariat of the Military Police also underlines that the police service has been strengthened in the region.
But what happened?
According to initial information from the Military Police, Burlón was driving when the GPS led him to access the community of Escondidinho, a region dominated by the Comando Vermelho (CV) faction, in Rio de Janeiro. He was with his family and, together, they wanted to visit Christ the Redeemer.
Initially entering an intersection between Santa Alexandrina and Cândido de Oliveira streets, the Argentine’s car was hit by criminals. The entrepreneur was accompanied by his wife and children, but only he was hit. He remains hospitalized in the city.
The firefighters saved him. Rio de Janeiro police also lent their help to remove the car used by the Argentine. During the crime the vehicle hit a wall and its front part was destroyed.

Who is the tourist?
According to the Argentine newspaper La Nacion, Burlón was secretary of tourism of San Carlos de Bariloche in 2017 and was a public official from 2015 to 2023. He currently presides over the Argentine Chamber of Student Tourism (Cate), an association that brings together businesses in the sector .
On his social profiles he presents himself as the owner of a travel agency since 2000. Currently Burlón’s wife, Nadia Loza, holds the position of Tourism Secretary of the Argentine city.
