Stencils and paint (fashionable, if neat)

It seems that snowflakes painted on windows have long gone out of fashion. But if you use quality stencils and matte white paint, you can create cool designs. I can recommend minimalist geometric shapes or icy curls. Important: the drawing should be discreet and concise in order to complement the interior and not contradict it.

Neutral light garlands

Colorful light bulbs remained in the 90s, today neutral tones prevail. The warm white light creates an atmosphere of comfort and celebration without distracting attention. Choose garlands with different lighting modes and hang them so that the wires remain invisible. During a renovation, I always advise placing rosettes in the slopes of the windows: it’s a godsend for such decoration options!

Thematic textiles

Replace your usual curtains with textiles in the New Year mood. It can be plain fabrics in red, blue or gold, or a discreet print: fir branches, snowflakes, stars. And curtain tiebacks can be decorated with miniature garlands, bows or even branches of pine needles with berries.

Things with history

Immerse yourself in childhood: decorate the windows with tree decorations or vintage Christmas cards. Place them in front of the glass or, if you have two frames, objects can be placed between them. On the windowsill you can place gift-wrapped boxes or old metal candlesticks.

Window sill as a scene

And don’t forget about the window sill: it can become a real center of New Year’s decor. Even if the window sill is not wide and you cannot sit on it, pillows with Holiday prints, wooden figures in the form of Christmas trees or deer, LED figures and compositions from conifers will come in handy.

Spruce wreaths not only on the door, but also on the window

Use natural elements to create comfort. Spruce branches look great alone or in combination with garlands or artificial snow. New Year’s wreaths can be hung not only on doors, but also on windows. Add bows or decorations in New Year’s colors: white, silver, red or gold.

A minimum of plastic, a maximum of natural

Cones, branches of pine needles and winter berries not only look aesthetically pleasing, but also fill the house with the light aroma of the forest.

Designer Tips: Decorate the windows so that the design matches the overall style of the room. If the interior is designed in minimalism, avoid excessive pomp and choose laconic decorations. And in classic or eclectic spaces, you can afford more details.
