METERS
cup = 240 ml, spoon = 15 ml, teaspoon = 10 ml, teaspoon = 5 ml
Ingredients for Airfryer French Toast:
– 8 slice(s) of stale French toast (or bread)
– 300 ml of milk to soak the bread
– 3 tablespoons of sugar or to taste
– 1 1/2 units of egg, beaten
– oil to taste to lightly grease the airfryer basket (optional)
Ingredients to flavor the milk (optional):
– lemon to taste – a strip of peel about 3 cm long
– 1/4 teaspoon of ground cinnamon
– 1 piece of raw cinnamon of approximately 1 cm
Finishing ingredients:
– 3 tablespoons of sugar
– 1 teaspoon of ground cinnamon
– 2 tablespoons of water
– 1 teaspoon(s) of sugar (for brushing)
Ingredients TO SERVE – OPTIONAL:
-sugar to taste (optional)
– ground cinnamon to taste (optional)
PREPARATION:
- If you use French bread, buy it 1 day in advance so that it remains “stale”. If it’s French toast bread, buy it 2 days in advance.
- In the simplest version, put the milk in a deep dish and simply sweeten it with sugar. However, for an option with a flavor closer to the original recipe, follow the milk flavoring procedure described at the beginning of the preparation.
- Separate the ingredients and utensils needed for the recipe.
- Beat the eggs in a shallow dish until the whites and yolks are homogenized, without forming foam.
PREPARATION:
French toast in the Airfryer – Milk Preparation:
- Mix the milk with the sugar in a dish. If you want to flavor it follow the steps:
- In a milk jug add the milk and sugar. If you want to flavor it, also add lemon zest (optional), ground cinnamon (optional) and ground cinnamon (optional). Bring to the boil.
- Once it boils, remove it from the heat, drain it into a shallow dish and let it cool completely.
French toast:
- Preheat the Airfryer at 200°C for 5 minutes.
- Cut the bread into slices about 2 cm thick.
- Depending on the number of slices you prepare, cook them in stages, this quantity depends on the size of the basket of your equipment.
- Perform the following procedure separately for each step:
- Line the Airfryer basket with a silicone mat or grease it with a thin layer of oil to prevent the French toast from sticking.
- Wet the slices of bread in the cold milk, making sure that it is absorbed on both sides – choose the milk version you prefer – they should be very wet, but be careful not to make them soggy.
- Dip them in the beaten eggs, covering both sides and remove the excess egg.
- Immediately place the slices in the Airfryer basket, in a single layer, leaving space between them to allow air to circulate. If necessary, break it into stages based on the capacity of your equipment.
Cooking in the Airfryer:
- Place the basket in the drawer and insert it into the appliance preheated to 200ºC.
- Cook for about 10 minutes, turning the French toast halfway through cooking with a silicone spatula to ensure even cooking. The indicated time may vary depending on the power of the equipment.
- At the end of the procedure, the French toast slices should be golden on both sides and slightly crunchy to the touch.
French toast in the Airfryer: Finishing:
- Place the sugar-water mixture (for brushing) in a spray bottle or small bowl. Use the spray bottle to apply to French toast or brush with a pastry brush.
- Place the sugar and cinnamon on a plate and mix. Spread the French toast in this mixture, covering both sides generously and evenly.
- Arrange the French toast on a serving plate.
FINALIZATION AND ASSEMBLY:
- Serve French toast prepared in the Airfryer hot or cold. If desired, sprinkle an extra layer of cinnamon sugar to ensure a more attractive appearance.
- Uneaten French toast can be stored in the refrigerator in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
- When serving preserved French toast, we recommend reheating it in the Airfryer for 2-3 minutes at 180°C, so that it retains its original texture.
