Earthy tones have become one of last year’s trends. It’s no surprise that a nature-inspired palette is the preferred color palette for the upcoming vacation.

“This aesthetic brings a raw, organic beauty to the interior. Look for colors reminiscent of woods, like deep greens and woodsy browns, when shopping for Christmas decor in December, says Emily Kantz, a marketing specialist at a paint company.

Patricia Derpinski, senior designer at a luxury event design agency, advises complementing earthy tones with gold accents and natural textures. “Gold will add elegance, while natural materials and warm lighting will add comfort and warmth,” she says.

Blush pink and other soft pastel shades were popular even during Halloween 2024 – not to mention New Year’s Eve! “A house decorated in pastel colors will look soft and fashionable. Use cream or white as the main color and add rich accents of mint, lilac or light blue to it,” advises interior designer Evelina Juzenaite.

This year, users searched for “chrome decor” on the Internet about 3,000% more often than last year, meaning it will play an important role in holiday decorating. Juzenaite suggests adding chrome and metallics to your tree to transform it into an icy wonderland, or pairing sparkling ornaments with light colors for a minimalist look and dark colors for a dramatic look.

“Also try combining chrome and metal with gold – this luxurious combination will always be in fashion. Start with soft white shades as a base and add sparkling touches with jewelry and accessories,” advises Derpinski.

This combination is a new interpretation of the classics, but in a vintage style: deep emerald, rich burgundy and elegant blue offer a sophisticated interpretation of the traditional red and green palette.

“This combination adds luxury and warmth to the interior, making the room festive and sophisticated. Use velvet pillowcases for cushions, dark red flowers and lush green garlands to create a warm and festive atmosphere,” says Juzenaite.

Black itself is not associated with the New Year, but in combination with gold and white it will appeal to everyone who loves bold statements. “If you’re going for contemporary decor, use rich green and gold accents with deep black as a base. Warm lights, matte greens and shimmering fairy lights will help bring the black hue to life. It will look chic, dramatic and high-end,” says Derpinski.

They already entered the arena last year and have not left it this year: according to Juzenaite, using sapphire blue, amethyst purple, emerald green and ruby ​​red is a sophisticated way to create a multi-color palette for the holidays. “Pair these colors with dark or light neutrals to transform jewel tones into pops of color,” she advises.
