Learn more about two celebrations that emerged before Christmas and see ritual suggestions for attracting what you want for the year 2025.
Christmas and New Year as we know them today represent a new type of celebration that already existed in the world before Christianity took hold. When we think of Natal we think of that decorated zero degree tree. Even though Christianity has tried to convince everyone that that date celebrates the birth of Christ, we know that Jesus was not born on December 25th.
But then why was December 25th chosen as the sacred date?
Two holidays are closest to the Christmas rituals we practice today: Yule, of the Vikings, and Saturnalia, of the Romans before Christianity took over. Both people take into account the winter solstice. In those days winter was associated with “lean cows”. Animals died in the pasture and the harvest was poor, marking very difficult days. Nothing more fitting for the Romans than to celebrate the god associated with harvests, to abundance and renewal.
Rome celebrated the Saturnalia on December 17th and they lasted several days, culminating in Sol Invictus, the day of the birth of the Sun god, not surprisingly celebrated on December 25th. The celebrations were very similar to Carnival, with a mesona of food, exchange gifts, lots of alcohol in the drinks, practically Christmassy these days.
New Year’s Eve is relatively recent. January 1st was established in 1582 after the reform of the Gregorian Calendar desired by Pope Gregory XIII. I remember very well the times I spent New Year’s Eve in some countries, such as Vietnam, Nepal, and we celebrated on a different date than usual.
New Year’s Eve celebrations do not necessarily take place on January 1st. This is because there are different calendars that organize the annual cycle differently from the Gregorian one.
ENERGY BATH FOR NEW YEAR’S EVE
Bath of prosperity and protection
- Bunch of fresh basil or a handful of dried basil
- 7 seeds of Gira Sol
- Arruda branch
- 1 white rose
Remember that each ritual must be carried out with great concentration and in silence. No cell phones, televisions or loud sounds.
Let’s go then!
- Boil 1.5 water. Add the fresh herbs and boil for 2 minutes. If the herbs are dry, add them all and boil for 5 minutes, then add the fresh herbs and boil for 2 minutes.
- Add the white pink peas, count to 10 and turn off the heat. Cook over low heat for 30 minutes and leave to cool well and filter.
- Take your hygienic bath and pour the energy bath, from the head down. Don’t get into the shower again, dry yourself with a towel and you can get dressed.
- If possible, return the herbs to Nature and be grateful. “Mother Earth, I thank you for the energy granted.”
- If you don’t have nature nearby, put a plastic bag in it, close it and throw it in the garbage, but always be grateful for such wonderful nature.
LIGHT THE CANDLE
Now light a 7 day yellow candle. Let it burn until it is finished, but every day say your prayers and the prayer of Terra do Bugio.
“In the name of the Father, of the Son and of the Holy Spirit
In the force of Fire, Earth, Water and Air
I destroy every spoken, unspoken and damned word
I destroy every spoken, unspoken and cursed word
May God bestow all blessings
May Saint Anthony give you the strength to walk
and destroy all requests and the evil eye
May prestige and good fortune prevail first
from all our enemies
May the road open before you.
May the wind blow lightly
May the sun shine again.
May the rain bring fertility
I bless emotional, body and soul healing.
And until we meet again in this Holy Land,
we love, welcome and take care of us.
