Fernanda Torres and “I’m Still Here” in the spotlight
The actress is nominated for her performance as Eunice Paiva in the film I’m still heredirected by Walter Salles. The film addresses the journey of the activist and former first lady of Brazil in a drama that combines history, emotion and memory. The film directed by Walter Salles is based on the book of the same name by Marcelo Rubens Paiva and tells the life of Eunice, who had to face the military dictatorship and the loss of her husband, Rubens Paiva, a politician who disappeared. The production was acclaimed for its sensitivity and careful approach to historical and emotional themes. Fernanda’s performance was widely praised, placing her as one of the favorites in the competition, alongside names such as Kate Winslet and Nicole Kidman.
This is the first time in 25 years that a Brazilian has been nominated in the category – the last was Fernanda Montenegro, mother of Torres, for Central Brazil. Now Fernanda can make history by becoming the first Brazilian to win the Golden Globe for best actress.
