Reserva GO launches the Yankee Ocean sneaker made with reused materials

Reserva GO Yankee Ocean uses recycled PET in its upper and in nets recovered from fishermen and reworked by artisans

Reserva Go launches the Yankee Ocean, an eco-friendly reinvention of one of its best-selling sneakers. The launch features a unique composition that includes textured nylon from recycled PET bottles, 100% recycled bioplastic details and outsoles made from fishing nets recovered from fishermen in southern Brazil, in a partnership with the artisan cooperative Redeiras, of Pellets (RS).

The sneaker’s production process, according to Reserva Go, is a testament to the brand’s commitment to sustainability, using four types of recycled materials. The upper fabric is produced from PET bottles collected, cleaned and transformed into a strong nylon fabric. Fishing nets, saved from abandonment at sea, are reconditioned for use in shoelaces and parts of the rubber sole.

The toe box, front and back of the sneaker are made from certified suede, while the sides are made from certified nappa leather, both sustainable materials known for their durability. To top it off, small pieces of bioplastic, an alternative material that has a lower environmental impact than conventional plastics, are used on the label and in the shadow on the “R” side of the sneaker.

The Yankee Ocean, selling for R$1,199, is not the brand’s first product to use recycled materials, but what sets it apart is the creative approach to combating ocean pollution by incorporating discarded fishing nets into the production process.
