Colon cancer -Retto: early diagnosis saves life


Specialist warns of the importance of primary care

The intestine cancer covers the tumors found in the large intestine called colon and right. It is also known as the colon and rectum carcinoma, or of the colon -and currently occupies the third position among the most frequent tumors in Brazil.




The importance of identifying the colon -receptor cancer soon

It is important to have primary care for the disease that, in most cases, is curable when detected soon, when it has not yet spread to other organs. Most of these tumors start from polyps, benign lesions that can grow on the internal wall of the large intestine.

Despite being common among the elderly, data all over the world show a higher incidence of colon cancer -around among people under the age of 50.

Prevention

Among the main causes, we can list:

  • Family predisposition;
  • Presence of polyps;
  • Life habits;
  • Ovary, uterus or breast cancer;
  • Obesity and physical inactivity.
  • Gastroenterologist at the hospital and the clínica São Gonçalo, Dr. Eric Pereira, also recalls risk factors, such as inflammatory intestinal diseases, chronic ulcerative rulings and Crohn’s disease, as well as hereditary diseases such as family adenomatous polypos (FAP) and hereditary colored cancer without polypos (HNPCC).

Symptoms

Eric adds that it is necessary to be notified if there are changes in intestinal habit, such as diarrhea or constipation, abdominal discomfort with gases or cramps, bleeding of stools, anal bleeding and sensation that the intestine has not emptied after the evacuation. “Other symptoms may include: weight loss for no apparent reason, tiredness, dark -colored Passive feces, nausea, vomiting and difficulty evacuating,” he concludes.
