The relationship between the consumption of chocolate and the aspect of pimples is a theme that generates many discussions and doubts. To clarify this problem, it is important to analyze the facts and myths involving this association.
The consumption of chocolate, in particular the most sugary, can stimulate the emergence of acne, but there are ways to enjoy Easter without sacrificing the health of the skin.
According to the dermatologist Dr. Ivan Rollemberg, member of the Brazilian Society of Dermatology (SBD), excessive consumption of sugar and milk chocolates can aggravate the inflammation of acne and skin.
“Sugar in chocolate stimulates the production of the IGF-1 hormone, which, in turn, increases the production of sebum in the sebaceous glands, contributing to the emergence of acne,” explains the doctor.
However, the expert explains that the greatest versions of cocoa – such as dark or a half or half -amargo chocolate – have fewer sugar and more antioxidants, which reduces their negative impact on the skin. “A safe portion can be about 25-30 grams per day, always inside a balanced diet,” he says.
In addition to chocolate, excess sugar in food as a whole is the bad health of the skin.
“It triggers the inflammatory processes, increases the production of insulin and causes hormonal imbalances. All this is reflected directly on the skin, increasing rarely, pimples and acceleration of aging”, warns the doctor.
How to reverse the damage?
For those who are already facing the consequences of a unbalanced diet – during Easter or not – the dermatologist indicates that some treatments can help recover skin health:
• cleaning of deep skin
• Chemical peeling
• Anti -inflammatory laser
• specific cosmetics for oiliness and acne
“The most important thing is not to be self -dheic. The search for a dermatologist is essential to identify the causes and propose effective and personalized treatment,” concludes Dr. Ivan.
