Day of the kiss: see cure to avoid the transmission of diseases

Experts explain how kiss can represent risks to health and guide the mouth and lips

Celebrated with affection and fun, the Day of the kissCelebrated on April 13, it also brings an important warning: the gesture of affection can be a gateway for oral and dermatological diseases if some precautions are not taken. Experts underline that the kiss provides direct contact with mucous membranes and saliva, which can facilitate the transmission of viruses, bacteria and mushrooms.

The dental surgeon Bruna Conde explains that the maintenance of a good brushing, the use of the walker, the hydration and the visit of the dentist are essential habits to guarantee a healthy kiss. “Diseases such as mononucleosis, herpes lip, oral candidiasis and gingivitis can be transmitted by the kiss. Maintaining high oral immunity is a form of prevention,” he says.

The lips also require attention

In addition to the mouth, lips also deserve attention. The dermatologist Ana Carolina Sumam warns that the kiss can favor infections such as Herpes Labbro, oral candidiasis and corner cheilite, known as Bill. “Herpes, for example, can be transmitted even without visible injuries. And direct contact with lips facilitates this contamination,” he explains.

According to the expert, the daily use of the lips of the lips of the sun protection factor (SPF), constant hydration and unhappy use of objects such as lipsticks and cups are basic measures to protect sensitive skin from the region. Aesthetic procedures such as filling the lips with hyaluronic acid and fractional laser also help keep the lips hydrated, lush and protected from premature aging.

Take care to avoid oral disease

Although the kiss can be a gateway for a series of infections, with the adoption of a certain care, it is possible to kiss without worries. Among the fundamental care listed by the experts are:

  • Brush the teeth after meals and before going to bed;
  • Use the interdental floss every day;
  • Hydrate well and avoid excessive sugar consumption;
  • Avoid smoking;
  • Use protection for lips with SPF;
  • Hydrate the lips with products based on shea butter or ceramids,
  • Consult dentists and dermatologists regularly

“The kiss should always be a pleasant and safe gesture. Even taking care of oral health and lips is a way to show affection with yourself and with the other”, concludes Bruna Conte.
