Tag guide: Learn to read and interpret each of them

Loved by some and discomfort for others, clothes labels are seen as a strong ally when it comes to the longevity and duration of the pieces. Understanding and correctly interpreting all the information contained in the labels can have a positive impact on the purchase experience and the use of the parties.

The law requires that six mandatory information is present in all regulated labels. Among this information, we highlight the identification or name of the brand, the company’s CNPJ, the origin of the part of the part, the size of the part, the composition of the material of the fabric and the preservation and cleaning precautions, presented in symbols or text.

Understand the symbols

Symbol of the iron pass: When a point is indicated inside the drawing, the part can have passed at a temperature of a maximum of 110 ° C. When the temperature exceeds the recommended limit, the fibers can dry and become rough, causing irreversible damage.

Drying symbol: When a point is indicated inside a square, the part can be brought to the drying machine. Two points indicate that drying should be performed in dryer, but with a normal temperature. If there is a “x”, machine drying is prohibited. When there is a vertical track, drying should be made with the suspended piece. With two vertical strokes, the piece should be hung without applause. A horizontal track means that drying should be done flat and two horizontal strokes indicate that the part cannot be applauded. In addition, a diagonal section on the upper left tip, present in symbols of flat or vertical drying, indicates that the drying should take place in the shadows.

Symbol of bleach: Represented by a triangle, this symbol indicates the use of bleach. If the piece is white cotton, you can use bleach if necessary. The diagonal blows allow the use of bleaching with oxygen, while the “X” on the triangle prohibits the use of any type of bleaching.

Washing symbol: The symbol is always supplied with a number indicating the maximum water temperature in which the cotton piece can be washed without damage. When the symbol has no traces below, the part can be washed in the normal cycle. A stroke indicates that washing should be performed in a delicate cycle and two shots mean that washing should be performed in a delicate cycle without applauding. The symbol of one hand inside a tina indicates that the part must be washed manually, while the “X” means that the machine washing is prohibited.
