ingredients of French bread
- 800 g of wheat flour (approx.)
- 1 tablespoon of salt
- 4 fresh brewer’s yeast tablets (60 g)
- 1 teaspoon of sugar
- 4 tablespoons of margarine
- 1 tablespoon of flour softener
- 1 egg
- 2 cups of cold water (approx.)
- Margarine and wheat flour for greasing and flour
- Cold water to spray
Method of preparation
To start, mix the flour, salt, sugar, fabric softener and crumbled yeast. Add margarine, egg and mix with your hands.
Then add the water, little by little, kneading until a smooth and homogeneous mass is formed. If necessary, add more flour. Knead for 10 minutes. Cover and let it rest for 20 minutes. Divide the dough into small portions and form sandwiches.
Place in a greased and floured baking pan, cover and leave to rest for another 40 minutes. With a sharp knife, make shallow scratches on the buns lengthwise.
Sprinkle with ice water and bake in a preheated oven for 30 minutes or until golden brown. Cool and serve with butter if desired.
