The letter that would have been written by Eliza Samudio, through psychography, rekindles the discussion on the subject

THE death of Elisa Samudio it is still shrouded in mystery, even though it happened more than 12 years ago. One of the main questions is precisely what was done with the body of the victim, killed in a crime that saw the participation of the goalkeeper. Bruno Fernandes, with whom she had a son. Eliza’s remains were never found.
The mystery gained a new level last Monday, the 1st, when psychic Chaline Grazik said she received a psychographed message of the victim, providing the details of the crime. The publication reignited the debate on the veracity of these messages, written by spirits through median people.
The subject was strengthened in Brazil with the work of Chico Xavier, who died in 2002, who wrote more than 450 books and comforted, for more than 60 years, disconsolate people in search of news about their dead relatives. The medium’s work has also been the subject of scientific research, such as that carried out by the Research Center in Spirituality and Health of the Federal University of Juiz de Fora, in collaboration with the Department of Psychiatry of the University of São Paulo (USP).
“Allan Kardec said that mediumship is a divine gift and that, therefore, it should be used with respect and seriousness for the practice of charity. However, it is known that many people define themselves as mediums for defrauding mediumistic communications”, explains Marco Aurélio Alvarenga Monteiro, regional president of the Union of Spiritual Societies, in reference to the decoder of the Spiritual Doctrine, in 1857.
what is psychography
There are different modalities of mediumship and one of these is psychography. In this case, the psychographic medium receives a message from a disembodied spirit through writing. There are three ways to do this psychograph a message: mechanical, semi-mechanical and intuitive.
Mechanics is one in which the spirit takes the medium’s hand and leaves him without control over what is written or drawn. He is unaware of the past message until he reads it.
“In the case of semi-mechanics, the spirit ‘takes’ the hand of the medium but, at the same time, transmits ideas and thoughts to the mind of the medium, who, therefore, is aware of what he writes, draws”, explains Marco Aurélio Monteiro. .
already on intuitive psychology it is that in which the medium has control of the hand, because the message received is transmitted to the medium only through intuitions. But regardless of the modality, the cards are usually meant to bring comfort to the recipient.
“Psychographed letters are usually messages that disembodied spirits bring to family members, to console them for the pain they feel over their physical death,” adds Monteiro.
How to know if psychology is real
Just touching sensitive points for those who are still alive, the psychology it can be an opportunity for scammers and charlatans. The regional president of the Union of Spiritual Societies, Marco Aurélio Monteiro, points out that some characteristics are realized if the psychographed message is true or not.
“You have to evaluate the suitability of the medium: what is their commitment to mediumship and to the human being? What kind of advantages does the exercise of mediumship bring? Mediumship should be a free and disinterested practice”, he guides.
Chico Xavier’s work, for example, still has repercussions even in lawsuits. Although he died in 2002, seven years later a psychographic letter from the medium acquitted a woman in Viamão, Rio Grande do Sul. The defense presented a letter in which the victim, without explicitly stating that the defendant was innocent, regretted being prosecuted for her death.
The case was analyzed by three judges. One of them, Judge José Antonio Hirt Preiss, said that the decision of the jury, which voted for acquittal, should be followed, but held: “Religion is outside this courtroom which takes place according to Brazilian law” .
The letters are based on faith
Linguist Cintia Alves da Silva draws attention to the judgment expressed on the medium who presents the psychographed message and, in fact, on the use of these letters as evidence in the causes. She responsible for a work that has analyzed the text of the letters written by Chico Xavier to try to understand if the “spiritual authors” have brought any discursive and textual materiality, she claims that the letters are a subjective experience.
“It is not up to us to judge the suitability of mediums, but that of people who present this type of communication as evidence in the proceedings. Respect, faith and justice are issues that must not be confused,” he argues. .researcher.
Despite the position regarding lawsuits, the study conducted by Silva identified distinct textual characteristics among the authors. The researcher analyzed nine letters from three psychographed authors by Chico Xavier who shared a similar writing style.
Elements were found that differentiate one author from another, such as names of family members and acquaintances, places where the aforementioned spirit would have lived and also specific data. The conclusion was that there were discrete but significant differences that distinguished the “spiritual authors”.
“In the letters, the effect of the generated meaning is that there would be two identities, which seem to alternate at the time of writing. Sometimes, it is as if the medium himself is teaching spirit principles. ‘Communicating,” Silva explains.
