Businessman Igor Monteiro Simão, 26, was indicted for sexual harassment of a 14-year-old girl in a luxury hotel in Ipanema, south of Rio de Janeiro. The incident occurred around 10 pm on Saturday 30th.

In a statement to the police, the victim claimed that the waiter had warned the man, but was pushed and threatened with the following words: “Do you know who I am?”. Also according to the testimony of the teenager, Igor was drunk when he approached her and her friend and, despite the fact that she said she was a minor, he continued to creep into the two. He spoke “with his face closer and closer” and praised the two, saying they were “very beautiful”.

The teenager told police that she took advantage of the waiter’s interference to leave the club and go to the room where she was staying, under the care of her friend’s father. The two reported the incident and immediately afterwards the carabinieri were called.

Escape in BMW

According to the report on the incident, the inspectors were at the hotel around 11:50 pm and found that Igor Simão was a guest. Therefore, he could enjoy the facilities of the roof, which include a swimming pool and a bar. He, however, was not found at the hotel.

The military police went to the condominium where he lives, in Recreio, in the West Area of ​​Rio, and waited to arrest him in the act. Unsuccessfully, police believe Simão escaped in a BMW where he left the scene around 5:40 am.

In Globo, the hotel said it had acted “firmly” and “within the limits of the law” to curb unwelcome attitudes of a customer and reiterated that an employee insisted that the customer quit. In reaction, the man threatened and assaulted the employee.

The hotel further states that it has provided the images as soon as requested by the competent authority and adds that they are clear and demonstrate that the customer who had inappropriate attitudes has never been protected or helped by the hotel employees.
