Overall, the name received 22,533 Records, according to Armpen-Brazil (National Association of Natural People Register). The last time a female name appeared in the lead was with Maria Eduonda in 2016.

Miguel, who appeared in 1st place in the last four years, has continued to climb and managed the vice-law of popular preference with 22,142 records.

“The names chosen not only reflect individual tastes, but also translate cultural, religious and media influences, which play a fundamental role in the formation of families’ preferences,” said Gustavo Renato Filosy, president of Stern-Brazil.

“The notaries are the guardians of the history and cultural identity of Brazil, a true database of the nation, which records the history of each family and each individual, from birth to death, keeping it in posterity,” he added.
