From a vanity to paraplegia
It all started on November 11, 2023. Jessica noticed a wound on the arm. “I had never had a van, so I wondered what it was,” he says. Over time, the wound has grown and the place became swollen.
On November 15, already knowing he was a boil, Jessica decided to squeeze the injury. “They say that when he takes the meat to hurt, right?” He says.
So the young woman began to feel back pain, who referred to the active routine, took care of her young son and worked as a cashier.
Nine days after squeezing the boiling, Jessica went to the hospital, with a lot of back pain. “I couldn’t get up completely, so to walk,” he recalls. But the exams they did in the emergency room have not detected anything.
The next day, on November 25, the young woman returned to Roberto Silvares’ hospital, to San Mateus (eg), with an even more intense pain, accompanied by fever and rigidity in the body. “I couldn’t lower my chin to the chest,” he says.
At that moment, she was hospitalized with suspect meningitis. The young woman reports that she came to mention only the boiling to doctors the next dayAfter asking if he would have an injury that could have caused a bacterial infection.

Diagnosis and hope

“With the antibiotic they gave, if I had not fought the bacteria, I should have undergone surgery. But the intervention was risky, because it was in the marrow region. So, thank God, the antibiotic fought the bacteria. And now, today there are no more bacteria. Young people.
Jessica continues with the treatment of physical therapy and tries to maintain hope, even if it does not listen to the doctors “yes” or “no” on the possibility of walking again.
