The study shows types of foods that guarantee healthy aging

New research reveals food models that help to live longer and better; Check

It is said a lot about healthy nutrition, but we lie its importance in longevity. A new study published in the magazine Natural medicine It has strengthened this idea with new discoveries: keeping certain food schemes during life can encourage the healthiest and most active aging.

Conducted by researchers from the universities of Harvard, Copenhage AND MantrealThe study followed over 105,000 people between 39 and 69 years in three decades. The goal was to understand how different food styles influence health in maturity. And more than this, in the ability to live with autonomy and well -being also with age progress.

What defines a diet that favors healthy aging?

The study evaluated eight dietary models considered the most effective in this process. Among these are already known diets, such as: Dash (focused on blood pressure control); Mind (Focus on brain health); Mediterranean and its variants; Diets based on low inflammatory potential vegetables.

In practice, all these approaches have something in common: they give priority to the consumption of natural and minimally transformed foods (such as fruit, vegetables, legumes, whole grains, oil seeds, olive oil, fish and some dairy products). At the same time, they avoid ultra -elaborate foods, rich in trans fats, added sugars and sodium.

Personalized food

Although the research was conducted according to the population of United StatesScientists say that the benefits can be applied globally. “There is no ideal diet for everyone. It is essential that food is adaptable to the personal preferences and the cultural context of each”highlights the teacher Anne-Julie Tessierfrom the University of Montreal.

Marta Gasch-FerréCo -author of the study and teacher at the University of Copenhagen, strengthens the same idea: “Food models based on vegetables, with moderate inclusion of healthy animal foods, favor healthy aging in general”.

First, better it is – but it is never late

The researchers also attract attention on the ideal moment to adopt these changes: as soon as possible, the better. But even those who start only to change habits later can still benefit. The biggest challenge? Change already consolidated eating habits. However, the effort is worth it. In addition to helping to prevent chronic diseases such as diabetes, hypertension and obesity, these food schemes promote the lighter, active and autonomous old age. This is something that affects not only on the individual, but for the entire society.
