TO EarthHer husband, Ubiratan Rodrigues from Nova, said that his wife was always healthy and has never had anything that could leave his family for a warning about his health. Since 2019 in the country of the United States, the couple has sought a better life in which she acted as manicure. But now, the family wants to return to Brazil to be able to give a more suitable treatment for the minas Gerais of Juiz de Fora (MG).
Their nightmare began on Friday, September 20 last year. He is a truck driver and was making a trip to Texas when he received a call from his middle son, Thiago, 13 years old, saying that Fabiola felt bad.
Ubiratan deflected the path, but he only managed to arrive the next day, when his wife was already hospitalized and had undergone a first surgery on the abdomen while he had threw blood. It was his eldest son, Arthur, who went to the hospital who took his stepmother, accompanied by the brothers, including Little Liz, 4 years old.
“Then the nightmare began. On Sunday afternoon, the doctor came to talk to me who was in brain death. The doctor gave me the news, already asking if I wanted to donate the organs, because they are very cold. I said that I could not make that decision alone and that he had to speak also with his family,” explained the truck driver.

The miner who was vain, smiling and dreamy, while describing her husband, was now trapped in a bed.
Improvement of the frame
The next day, when he returned to the hospital, he realized that his wife was moving and asked the medical team. At that moment, they said it was only “coma”. During this period, it was also discovered that he had a lung perforation due to resuscitation maneuvers, according to her husband.
Over the days, Fabiola that once remained motionless on the bed began to move a little, opened and moved her eyes, reacted to the stimuli. Ubiratan knew that this was the time to fight for his wife’s life.
“The doctors say that he does not transmit it, but that’s not what we see. Every day is happening is better and therefore more physiotherapy evolves, phono”, strengthens.
He spent seven months admitted to the health unit and was then addressed to a clinic that he promised to have 24 hours a day, as well as in the hospital. But arriving there, the truck driver realized that he had been deceived and chose to take her home.
Back to Brazil
The husband says he takes care of his wife practically alone. “The load is very large and I am tired, I need help. I have to be father, mother, nurse, doctor, all at the same time. Her treatment is the main reason why we have to return,” he said.
Even at the beginning of this Fabiola trajectory, the hospital offered to travel to the patient, with an air therapy unit (ICU) with all the support he needed. It turns out that, at that time, he was unable to travel because of the perforation in the lung. A little over two months ago, the doctor released the trip, but the health institution said that it will not be able to afford the costs.

The truck driver explains that he has tried a little appeal with the consulate, but has been informed that they do not make this type of service. So what has remained was to ask for help on the Internet, since the family lives with donations, while Ubiratan stopped working to take care of his wife.
“We live donations for everything, to nourish, pay the rent. This is also a reason why we have to go back, because people help, but they cannot always help. The cost of living here is very expensive, unfortunately our relatives in Brazil can no longer help, especially in this dollar situation.
The ICU AIR costs between $ 50,000 and US $ 200,000, due to the distance from travel and appliances available for specific treatments, such as mechanical fans, cardiac monitors and defibrillators, infusion pumps. The family can receive donations through websites Vakinha AND Gofundme.
In describing the entire situation, Ubiratan uses the word “incredible”. “It is incredible that life changes, therefore, during the night, and we must change the path, to understand that the plans we had changed and we must recalculate the path,” he concludes.
