Know the laws of education in defense of people with autism

The inclusion of the PCD has increased, but it is still insufficient

The psychologist Juliana Barnata, a specialist in neurodactiveness and autism, speaks of this day that celebrates the importance and impact of students on the development of the country

The student day is celebrated on 11 August. Period marked with the recognition and value of education and the influence that students provide to society. Officially established on the same date, in 1927, the honor was suggested by the jurist Celso Gand Ley, due to the 100 years in which Dom Pedro I, so far emperor, authorized the creation of the first colleges and the first courses in the country.

In addition to the holidays and events promoted, its importance is to offer a reflection on the role of studies in cultural structuring and dedication to the future. It also serves as a way to create visibility to other groups looking for a more welcoming environment. The Brazilian law on the inclusion of people with disabilities (LBI) guarantees that people with disabilities, including autistic, have the right to inclusive education. Therefore, determining that educational institutions must guarantee this right to everyone.

Early childhood is even more demanding

Another law that aims at the same guidelines is law no. 12.764/2012 or national policy for the protection of people’s rights with autistic spectrum disorder. Recognizes autism as a disability and establishes the rules for this decree to be practiced correctly. Therefore, schools cannot refuse enrollment, waiting lists or shares in these cases. Just as there should be a specialized partner for an experience close to equity and future trauma at a distance of early childhood.

“Early childhood can be very cruel for a typical child. And this can increase considerably in a place full of sensory stimuli and information for a neurodicing individual. All the initiatives imposed so that the school area becomes easier. And the more they are present in everyday life and they are not invisible, the more calm are very calm, the more calm, even for people they are very present. Teaching.

More PCD in schools

Specialized educational assistance (ESA) is the right of a student with autism and focuses above all on the development of their potential and autonomy, considering that schools should offer adaptations of differentiated curriculums and different teaching materials, if necessary, to guarantee satisfactory learning, such as the expansion of the Pei (individualized teaching plan), who use the family and professionals involved to meet the specific needs of the student.

From 2003 to 2015, the number of students with disabilities present in schools increased from 23% to 81%, which brings an optimism for this percentage to remain exponential. Because this happens, it takes clear and objective communication, production of social skills and involvement and support of professionals.
