Self-esteem improves employee performance in the company

Employee self-esteem has a direct impact on their productivity and performance in the company. Due to its relevance, the topic has been increasingly debated when it comes to mental health in the corporate world.

Currently, the topic has assumed great proportions, due to the pandemic, which caused a Global increase of 25% in cases of anxiety and depressionaccording to the World Health Organization (WHO).

This percentage places Brazil among the 11 countries with the highest number of depression cases in the world, according to a survey conducted by the University of Sao Paulo (USP). According to the study, the country has the highest number of cases of anxiety, indicated by 63% of respondents, and of depression, by 59%.

On the other hand, keeping a team 100% satisfied and motivated was one of the biggest challenges. And motivation is one of the fundamental elements to increase people’s self-esteem.

Better self-esteem is reflected in the work environment, not only in increased productivity, but also in innovative practices.

Low self-esteem reduces productivity

Most of the time, cases of anxiety and depression were motivated by people’s difficulties in adjusting to new ways of working and personal life. These, when not exceeded, damage the self-esteem of employees, which reduce their productivity and performance.

For a professional to have a good performance in the company, it is essential that he is with his own balanced self-esteem, since work is an activity that requires, among other things, good mental and emotional health on a daily basis.

Psychology defines self-esteem as a person’s sense of worth of himself. In Abraham Maslow’s view of management, it is seen as one of the basic human needs. Regardless of their different forms and visions, those with high self-esteem believe in their abilities and, therefore, it produces better results, both in personal and professional life. In parallel, he maintains balanced health and good relationships.

It is important to think about the role of human resources and company managers, who must create strategic ways to exploit the potential of each employee. The department must allow professionals to interact dynamically with production and personal processes according to each person’s personality.
