The coordination assistant Heusiléia Coelho, 41, received news that nobody wanted to hear: his child had very few possibilities to live. In fact, one in one million in case of births with 23 weeks of gestation.

“He said: ‘Me, of my part as a doctor, I will do what I can so well, but I have to be honest with you: his possibilities are very small. He is one in a million.’ And then, I told him: I will take in this 1%, “recalls Heusiléia in an interview with the interview with Earth.

He says it all started with bleeding when he was 12 weeks pregnant. Despite a story of delicate pregnancies, this, which was his third experience, was following well. By precaution, the midwife has asked for some exams and veto efforts.

“It seemed to have improved, but over time I started having a discharge. The doctor said that this discharge could be a urine infection. And then he asked for new exams. I did the examination of the urine, but he gave nothing. In the blood exam, he gave a very high anemia and leukocytes were already starting to increase,” he explained.

According to the assistant, the suspicion is to have anemia. The treatment for diagnosis began soon, but the improvement was not 100% and, near the fourth month, started to feel contractions. At dawn after assembling the small room that would become of the child, she felt a FISGON.

“That dawn, I woke up with a very strong desire to pee. And I felt the bag broke out. It was like a pinch on the cervix. I was surprised. When I got up, the liquid has already started to drain”, detail.

Heusiléia says he called the midwife, who asked her to go to the hospital. However, it has already warned it that at the unit, located in Minaçu, inside Goiás, did not have in intensive care. So, depending on the severity of the case, it should be transferred, because there were feasibility limits and equipment.

In the evaluation, it was discovered that his lap was closed despite the bag he was bursting. He asked them to try to transfer it because he wanted to give the child a chance. Fortunately, a place at the Norte Gaiano State Hospital (HCN) center in Uruaçu, opened by enabling the transfer.

Arriving on the scene, the doctor confirmed that the case was serious, but he would try to keep him in the belly while the mother and the child could keep. Several serums have been introduced, as well as injections to help mature the child’s lungs and brain.

During this period, Heusiléia made a new blood test that underlined a high infection. In a short time, the image has worsened and advanced to the placenta. “Since it is inside you, it is very dangerous. The doctor said:” If we don’t take it as soon as possible, your life will be at risk. Because you can leave the operating room with a widespread infection, “he recalls.

He says he was constantly informed by the team that there were very few possibilities that the child survives. The doctor explained that it could be born alive, but that it may not be able to be very premature.

“Before the birth, I asked God:” Give us both a chance. We want so much. We wish him so much. We came here. So please give this possibility, “says Heusiléia, electrified.

According to her, the delivery was very difficult and she couldn’t even feel the cry of the baby. It was Wilson Francisco Nogueira Júnior to tell her that her son had survived, but should have remained hospitalized due to the infection.

Henry's birth day

Henry arrived in the world on May 3 of this year, with 23 weeks and 750 grams. Heusiléia was hospitalized for seven days and when she received permission to see her son, she did not contain emotion. “When I saw it, I was very electrified because it was very small.”

“Her small hands, although they were all modeled, the small fingers were still blocked. You saw that she had a membrane. The eye was closed, she did not open the eye. Very delicate. [da incubadora] And playing, but in his case, they asked us not to play because the skin was very sensitive, “he explained.

According to her, the pediatrician has put two conditions for Henry’s survival: surviving 48 hours after childbirth and pee and poop within 72 hours. “He said:” This, for us, will be fundamental for its recovery. To find out how the two days will work, “he recalls.

Everything happened within the expected, which rejoiced the medical team, as it indicated that the intestine and bladder were complete. “They never had such a piquitic child, to survive. I was told that, even for them, it was a challenge to face the situation. Knowing how to get around the complications because he was very young for them. Although they had already experienced other experiences, but so small, so premature”, detail.

During the day, Henry surprised more. The mother tells of having breathing difficulties, bleeding and heart arrests, but survived every obstacle. “He, without seeing, was very strong. We saw the desire he had to live,” he says electrified.

“I am witness to the doctors themselves. To turn to myself and say, ‘Mom, I don’t know. I only know it worked. It was a dark shot, they didn’t know what would happen. When they saw Henry’s healing, they all felt very happy. It was a success for everyone,” he says.

Day the family was discharged

Henrique was intubated by 85 days and amounted to four months of hospitalization. He and his family were discharged to return home on August 5th. According to Heusiléia, at the beginning she and her husband were worried, since they wondered if they could maintain the level of care of the child, but were reassured by doctors.

“He has an accompaniment with lung, physiotherapist. There was no regression, no sequels”

The last procedure that the child will have to pass is surgery to treat a inguinal hernia, common in premature children. Despite this, it is healthy. “It seems that the domestic environment is reparative because its development has been very good,” reveals.

On social networks, Heusiléia shared family history. According to her, to give hope to mothers and fathers who could cross the same.

“I spent four months in intensive care and I met many mothers. I met mothers who lost their children, who were not as lucky like me, and others who were still there. I was looking for, I studied a story on the internet, something to grab me. So, I hope that Henry’s story will serve for this, to give hopes for other mothers.
