The researchers underline which time for dinner can help in weight loss, sleep and even longevity

There are those who prefer to have dinner before or who can only eat late at night. But after all, is there a “right” moment for dinner? The researchers say yes: just like lunch, the night meal should also follow some care. Experts point out that the ideal is to finish dinner at least three hours before going to bed. That is, if you usually lie at midnight, the last meal should take place up to 21h.




What happens when you are late

Eating in very advanced times can ruin the circadian rhythms – the “biological watch” that regulates the transition between day and night. In addition, dinner time defines the fasting period for breakfast. For the teacher Adam Collinsfrom the Surrey Universityprolonging this interval is beneficial: “Prolonging the fast night between dinner and breakfast, you are allowing your body to enter the most catabolic phase, where you go to oxidize fat.”

The researcher also indicates that the results are more efficient when calorie restriction occurs at the beginning of the day. This model makes sense because, from a circadian point of view, the body is better prepared to manage food in the morning. At night, light meals prefer not only to rest but also longevity. Between the centenary, the most common habit is precisely a simple and made portion.

Be careful of what you eat at night

It is not enough to have dinner soon if the menu is not healthy. For those who practice resistance exercises during the day, a more robust meal, rich in proteins and carbohydrates, can be useful for muscle recovery. The secret, according to experts, is to respect a 12 -hour break between dinner and breakfast without overloading the body.

Keeping a food window of about 12 hours and dinner three hours before bedtime is generally the healthiest strategy. But if sleep is bad and health is not going well, the recommendation can change: betting on a reinforced breakfast, a balanced lunch and a light dinner tends to be the most favorable model for the body and mind.
