The cardiologist indicates the seven main care that should be adopted throughout their lives to preserve heart health

Today the World Heart Day (09/29). The date aims to make people aware of the importance of maintaining a healthy life from childhood. This is because this is the main way to prevent the emergence of cardiovascular diseases, which represent the main cause of death in Brazil. According to the Ministry of Health, the country records about 400,000 deaths per year.




“We know that cardiovascular disease is one of the main causes of death all over the world and nobody wants to be a statistics. So I brought some necessary measures to avoid and control these diseases,” says Dr. Thalita Modluzzi, cardiologist at the Albert Einstein hospital. The professional highlights some fundamental actions to prevent and control the diseases that affect the health of the heart. Check:

1. Be aware of your food: A balanced and healthy diet is essential for heart health. Therefore, it tries to include foods rich in fiber such as fruit, vegetables and whole grains and avoids elaborate and rich in saturated and trans fats. In addition, it gives priority to good proteins such as fish, chicken and excess fatty meat.

2. Practical exercises regularly: Physical activity is one of the best ways to keep your heart healthy. Therefore, dedicate at least 30 minutes a day to aerobic exercises such as walking, running, swimming or pedaling and exchange with exercises that promote strengthening as bodybuilding, functional and pilates.

3. Keep a healthy weight: Overweight can exert extra pressure on the heart and increase the risk of cardiovascular diseases. Therefore, it is important to maintain an adequate weight through a balanced diet and regular exercise.

4. Do not smoke: Smoking is one of the main causes of cardiovascular disease. Smoking damages blood vessels, increases blood pressure and reduces the quantity of oxygen available for the heart. So if you are a smoker, it’s time to abandon this habit.

5. Control stress: Chronic stress is associated with a greater risk of heart disease. Look for healthy ways to face stress, how to meditate, practice yoga or dedicate time to relaxing activities.

6. Perform regular exams: Consult a doctor regularly for routine exams and check the levels of blood pressure, cholesterol and blood sugar. This will contribute to identifying any cardiovascular problem soon and adopt the necessary measures to avoid or control it.

7. Reduce alcohol consumption: Excessive consumption of alcohol can increase blood pressure levels and triglycerides, endangering heart health.
