“The Ministry has already established the acquisition and forecast of the arrival of this other antidote is next week. We will have here in Brazil, in addition to the pharmaceutical anex that already guarantees a treatment, also hunger. It is a strategic stock,” explained Padilha.
The minister also reported that the government will acquire pharmaceutical ethanol, another antidote for these cases. In addition to the 4,300 AMPOULE already in possession of the country, another 12,000 units of the national industry will be delivered next week, while negotiating the purchase of another 60 thousand. “These 12,000 AMPOULS will be distributed to the reference centers of toxicology throughout the country. We have guaranteed the Sus network the pharmaceutical ethanol to be used in suspicious cases on medical recommendations,” he said.
Padilha also updated the methanol poisoning data. According to the minister, the number of notifications increased from 113 to 127, with 11 confirmed cases. This means that from yesterday to today, the increase has occurred only among suspicious cases, while the confirmations remain unchanged.
“There are 12 states that have already notified and informed the Ministry of Health of at least one case suspected of methanol poisoning,” said the minister.
In addition to providing further information on the situation in the country, Padilha thanked the organization for Pan American health and strengthened the importance of actions like this, which, according to him, helps “improve health and global cooperation of Brazil with countries and guarantee the Brazilian people to have access to this alternative”.
