perfect for the kitchen balcony or the gourmet balcony, the high stools bring practicality, beauty and a lot of personality to the environment. It is not enough to be enchanted by aesthetics, because there are many tricks for the right purchase.

Therefore, the architect Bruno Moraes, who heads the studio that bears his name, reveals some tips that can help select the ideal model, considering design, size, quantity and material.

“Although it is a safe piece of furniture when it comes to American kitchens, it can also be used in gourmet balconies and other spaces related to home reception,” he comments.

High in decor, the island worktop, featured in gourmet kitchens and balconies, is the perfect combination with tall stools. In this apartment, the architect Bruno Moraes has chosen furniture with a rounded wooden seat and structure.

When it comes to the most common material, surely the Wooden, especially at times when intimacy is desired, is at the top of the list. But models made by metalwith different colors, they are also on the rise.

When it comes to the ideal amount, it will all depend on the width of the work surface: care must be taken not to create an uncomfortable environment, both for the lack of space between the furniture and for the ergonomics with respect to the counter itself.

It is necessary to carefully plan the characteristics of the stool. For Bruno, all the variables involved must be taken into account: location, style of the environment, space available and, of course, customer preference.

At the same time that she dreamed of a practical kitchen, the owner of this apartment also wanted a clean composition, without exaggerating. On the 95 cm high quartz top, architect Bruno Moraes worked with three high industrial air stools

“It is not a perfect piece of furniture for a place of greater stay, unless it is a soft seat option, often also with armrests”, says the architect. “I consider an alternative to quick mealsto receive friends in a nonchalant, nonchalant way “, completes the architect.

Perfect for quick meals, the stool was chosen by Bianca Tedesco and Viviane Sakumoto for this project, in which the kitchen integrated into the living room has obtained a counter which, in addition to delimiting the rooms, can be used to assist in the preparations.

A tip for those looking for something functional for small or integrated environments is the swivel stool. With it you can leave the counter without moving away and rotate it in all the connected spaces.

For residents who favor comfort, an interesting solution is the alternative with height adjustment, which guarantees the perfect fit with respect to the floor. The good news is that there is no shortage of products that combine all of these features in one timeless design.

When it comes to measures of comfortto accompany the high benches (about 1.15 m high), it is worth resorting to stools that are 83 to 85 cm from the ground, ensuring a comfortable posture.

For comparison, it is recommended to choose a bench with a height of approximately 1m medium stool. To keep the spine erect and good ergonomics, leave it mobile at a distance of between 70 and 75 cm from the floor.

“By way of comparison, a chair is usually 45 cm from the ground, so it wouldn’t provide the same ergonomics in the execution of a high counter,” comments Bruno.

Metallic and with a cushion on the seat, the Bertoia Banqueta bets on universal design, creating an industrial atmosphere in this project by architect Bruno Moraes.

It’s not a rule, but it’s hard to imagine a stool alone, according to architect Bruno Moraes. “Generally it is accompanied by a bench, a top. If he has to be left alone, it is better to use a chair or an armchair”, he compares.

“Another recurring situation is having more than one piece of furniture, side by side, unless the space is too small and only one piece of furniture fits,” continues the professional.

As for the question of whether we can mix different models of high stools on the same bench, the limit is the sky, there are no rules. However, if the idea is to have a lighter-looking decoration, repeating the patterns will facilitate this result.

“I usually use two, three or even more identical pieces in search of visual unity and a more harmonious whole, as we did in this kitchen counter with the Bertoia copper models,” he says.

Right choices for outdoor spaces

For outdoor spaces, everything starts with the choice resistant materials in inclement weather. Both aluminum and some types of wood, such as tonkathey resist the action of time, with the difference that the wood requires maintenance from time to time.

If the room is connected to the pool or will be able to accommodate residents with wet clothing, the seat and back of the high stools must be made of waterproof material which, preferably, dries quickly.

“Among the good examples of materials, we have the nautical ropeAcquablock fabrics and with protection against water and UV rays “, exemplifies Bruno Moraes.
