Brazilian Parmigiana surpasses Italian Milanese in the renowned ranking

Who would have thought that the classic steak parmigiana would leave the traditional Italian Milanese behind? TasteAtlas, a platform recognized as a true encyclopedia of world gastronomy, has published its ranking of the best empanados on the planet, and Brazil ranked first.

In the publication that accompanied the finding, the profile explained that breaded cutlets consist of thin slices of meat, fish or vegetables covered in breadcrumbs and often covered in flour and eggs beaten before being fried or baked.

“They are the basis for dishes such as Steak Parmesan (served with tomato sauce and melted cheese), Tonkatsu (Japanese pork chop with panko crumbs and tonkatsu sauce), and Schnitzel (Austrian or German veal or pork chop, served with lemon.”

On social media, the Brazilian feat aroused pride and good doses of humor.

“Only Brazil is first with a dish that should be Italian but has been improved on Brazilian soil,” joked one Internet user.

Another user pointed out, in a provocative tone towards our South American neighbors:

“Not just being the best dish, but winning against Argentina.”

In fact, Argentina was also on the podium, which secured third place with the Milanese and also with the Neapolitan-style breaded steak, in sixth place.
