At 28 years old, marketing director Giovanni Castellani still remembers the unmistakable smell of smoke that announced the beginning of Nights of Terror, by the late Playcenter.

There is so much nostalgia that, every year, that feeling is remembered when another event that has made the history of São Paulo is being prepared.

This Saturday, October 25, the inauguration of the third edition of “Noites do Espanto” will take place in Roda Rico, São Paulo.

On the largest Ferris wheel in Latin America, a 91 meter high structure shaped like a bicycle rim, nights at Parque Cândido Portinari have not been the same since 2023, when this ride began hosting the event.

“[O ‘Noites do Espanto’] It started small and has grown, mostly due to open access. There is a lack of events of this type in Sao Paulo”, analyzes Castellani, in an interview with Travel by fare.

Even those who do not purchase a ticket will be able to board one of the 42 cabins of the Ferris wheel, which will have macabre decorations and audio with horror stories that can be activated by the user via Bluetoothyou can participate in the other attractions.

One of the new features is the “Procession of the Dead”, which in previous editions was only a “free scenography”, as Castellani explains.

The attraction is a thematic outdoor corridor that forms a circuit, where visitors walk through an area of ​​over 100 m², decorated with dark settings, such as tombs and statues up to 4 meters high.



Disclosure

The Espanto Cabin will have a special theme to provide immersion for toy visitors, such as benches and a coffee table with different textures, artificial candles and a zombie hand emerging from the center of the table.

In collaboration with the Catavento Institute, the event also includes an exhibition of 14 graffiti works, signed by names such as the director of visual arts Tico Canato and the illustrator Ray.

The initiative pays homage to the classics of horror cinema, with iconic characters such as Frankenstein, Zé do Caixão, Nosferatu and Dracula.



Disclosure

For “Noites do Espanto”, whose preparation begins six months in advance, around 50 professionals from different fields are involved in the pre-production, including specialists in scenography, characterization, make-up, technical operation, audiovisual, costumes and communication.

In total, 15 people, including masters of ceremonies, actors and dancers, perform as monstrous characters, dressed in around twenty costumes made exclusively for the event, which also has 25 scenic spaces, including macabre trees, tombs and ghosts.

The event will be opened by Nilldo Jaffer, ex-Noites do Terror, from 6pm, in the event tent, with characters who will tell the urban legend of an old cemetery.

The public will also be able to enjoy realistic make-up in the dressing room set up by Colormake Cosméticos, which will offer extra services for adults and children (experience paid separately, R$ 17.99), and a costume contest, to be registered at the box office (costumes that cover the face are not allowed).
