33% of manufacturers changed their formula in less than a year
The profile Ceia Clandestina, known for its detailed analyzes of food products, recently published the new 2025 low-fat cheese ranking, and the results were surprising.
After retesting all brands, the group revealed that 33% of manufacturers changed their formulas in less than a year, which had a direct impact on the quality and flavor of several products, some of which changed their position dramatically.
The most striking changes involve some of the most traditional brands on the market. Poços de Caldas cream cheese, which led the previous ranking, fell to 21st place. Batavo, already second, dropped to 22nd place. Aviação ranked 25th and was described as “with the consistency of a cola and extremely salty”.
Other brands also fluctuated a lot:
- Vigor dropped from 4th to 11th place;
- Cruzília, from 5 to 12;
- Itambé fell from 7th to 18th place;
- Danone was one of those who lost the most performance, going from 8th to 27th, last place.
The ranking provokes debate
The Ceia Clandestina team explained that the new investigation sought to evaluate the flavour, texture, consistency and nutritional balance of light cream cheeses available on the market. Additionally, a remark about Quatá cream cheese, which is technically not a traditional cream cheese, as it contains starch in its composition, drew attention. Despite this, the profile highlighted that the ingredient did not compromise the sensorial quality of the product, reinforcing that “reading the ingredients is only a small part of understanding a good product”.
