Ingredients of traditional Italian straw:

  • 2 cans of condensed milk
  • 2 tablespoons of salted butter
  • 5 tablespoons of chocolate powder
  • 1 teaspoon of vanilla essence
  • 1 packet of broken cornstarch cookies (200 g)
  • margarine to grease
  • Powdered sugar for sprinkling

Method of preparation:

In a pan combine the condensed milk, butter and chocolate. Then bring to low heat, stirring. Once it boils, cook for 10 minutes or until it comes off the bottom of the pan. Finally, remove from the heat and mix the essence and biscuits.

Then, pour into a greased medium rectangular refractory and let it cool. Then put it in the fridge for 1 hour. Cut into pieces and roll in powdered sugar. Then, serve or store in a closed container until ready to serve.
