Tiredness and lack of energy? Food could be the answer

Consumption of processed and ultra-processed foods, as well as poor eating habits, can contribute to a state of exhaustion

Full of activities, sometimes complex, the routine takes focus and a lot of energy to complete each planned plan, but it’s common for people to indicate fatigue for no apparent reason. What can it be?

Tiredness and lack of energy? Food could be the answer

Several reasons can be linked to this body exhaustion and lack of exaggerated disposition, from adverse health conditions, which require proper investigation, to specific nights of poor sleep quality, the rest essential for recharging energy, however, few realize that food has an enormous participation in the body’s processes and can be a key point to “push” or “steal energy”.

“Despite being a great source of energy, sugar can alter how insulin works and deregulate our blood sugar. When we eat a lot of sugar, our blood glucose level rises rapidly. Well known, our body releases a large amount of insulin to get this glucose into the cells and provide energy. This release ends up causing the glucose level to drop very quickly and, consequently, causes sleep and sluggishness, ”says nutritionist Paula Carretti.

As pointed out by the specialist, energy is commonly associated with the exaggerated consumption of sugar: Brazil is among the countries that consume the substance the most. In fact it helps to increase stamina quickly, but the big secret is the equilibrium nutritional.

“Sugar is a good ally for fast energy, but it’s not just sugar that is responsible for the body’s energy. Foods rich in carbohydrates are excellent sources of energy, so we include bread, beans and other legumes, pasta, cereals, fruits and vegetables, potatoes and other roots, flour, among many others, ”stresses Paula.

Brazil is also in the ranking of nations that consume the most processed and ultra-processed foods which, according to studies, can generate several complications of Health. These foods, among other things, are also part of the list of substances that act in a negative way, “draining” energy.

“Our body is very intelligent, it will draw energy from where it can, that is, if necessary, also from the muscles. Increasing energy sounds like a cliché, but it’s not: diversified foods, from all food groups, and the less processed and ultra-processed, the better. ”

Glucose: ally or bad?

Balance is the best answer to this question, after all glucose is essential for the proper functioning of the brain, however, when in excess, it represents a danger. Despite this, the opposite scenario is also risky, points out the nutritionist.

“Glucose is essential to obtain (have) energy, our whole body needs it, but the brain is the main consumer of this glucose. Without adequate energy, the body starts saving, just like the mobile phone when the battery is about to run out ”.
