According to the agency, immunization should be applied in three doses in this age group
The National Health Surveillance Agency (Anvisa) approved this week the expansion of the use of Pfizer’s Comirnaty vaccine for children between 6 months and 4 years of age. The approval allows for the start of vaccine use in Brazil for this age group.
According to the agency, the immunizer was considered safe and effective. The vaccine for children between 6 months and 4 years of age has a different dosage and composition than those used for the previously approved age groups.
“The vaccine formulation authorized today should be applied in three 0.2ml doses (equivalent to 3 micrograms),” the agency said in a statement Friday evening. “The first two doses should be given three weeks apart, followed by a third dose given at least eight weeks after the second dose.”
