After posting a video of the baby, Lily Fleet received a telltale message from an optometrist, who identified the problem in the baby’s eye.
who would say getting into a nice TikTok trend might reveal a disease in your baby? Well, that’s what happened to 25-year-old Englishman Lily Fleet. After sharing on her profile the first publication of her son Ari, 2 months old, the mother received an unusual message from an optometrist, professional responsible for identifying vision problems.

Specialist Laura Brown, 38, accidentally found Lily’s post on her social network while breastfeeding her baby. Watching the video you noticed Ari’s left eye had a fuzzy look, signs of squint (when the eyes do not point in the same direction) and a small white reflection: symptoms of congenital glaucoma.
The hereditary condition causes a buildup of fluid at the site and, if left untreated, it could lead to complete loss of vision in the newborn. On the same day she received the eye doctor’s notice in March of this year, Lilly went to her family doctor and the baby underwent emergency surgery. Today he is doing well and is being monitored.
“I think if it wasn’t for the message, I would have waited and he could have easily lost his sight in that eye. It’s nice to see something positive come out of social media,” Lilly said in an interview with the news portal. Live Lincolnshire.
The mother said she had already noticed that Ari’s eyes weren’t focusing properly, but during the six-week consultation the baby’s pediatrician assured her that everything was fine. The family should have returned within three months if the problem did not go away.
A week later, however, Lilly noticed the blurry look. For Laura, who noticed all the symptoms just by looking at the post, Parents shouldn’t ignore their “sixth sense”. If in doubt, always seek expert advice.
“I’m glad I helped. Diagnosing early means this the eye has the best chance of healing. The baby would surely have lost all or most of the vision in that eye within a few months had it not been treated. “
