Organization informs that the number could decrease in case of presentation of vouchers

THE University of Sao Paulo (USP) removed the notes and frequency tracking of the 275 students who have not proven that they have been vaccinated with two doses against covid-19. In August 2021, the University published an ordinance which provided that in October only those who had completed the vaccination calendar could return to classes. The third dose will be mandatory for the 2nd semester of this year.
The vaccination passport requirement is supported by the State Board of Education and with decisions of Federal Supreme Court (STF). Among the reasons for the provision, the universities invoke the principle of collective protection: those who have been vaccinated will have the certainty that the person next to them has also been immunized.
The removal of student data was notified on Monday 26 to the university services of the teaching and research units of the USP. The University has informed that the measure complies with the “guidelines and regulations relating to on-site activities at the USP concerning the mandatory test of the complete vaccination program (and any booster doses) against covid-19 ?.
According to the institute, an investigation into the student’s vaccination situation was carried out by the Dean of Graduation in August. “In the meeting of the Graduation Council in August 2022, the Presidents of the Graduation Commission were called to verify these cases and ask the students to regularize the situation”, reads the note.
Also according to USP, the number of people with canceled enrollments corresponds to about 0.45% of the university’s student body, which has 60,000 university students. This number could still decrease, as there are registrations of students submitting vouchers now, despite having been vaccinated for longer.
Campinas State University (Unicamp) and Sao Paulo State University (Unesp) also asked for vaccination for back to school, but did not inform if any action was taken against students who did not demonstrate l ‘immunization.
