November holidays 2022: how we relax and what we will celebrate

Autumn does not spoil us with long weekends, unlike generous January or May. Therefore, we are looking forward to November 4 – to celebrate the holidays and get an extra day of rest. We looked at the calendar to understand when the November holidays depend on the public holidays in 2022.

There is only one public holiday during the fall months, which is a non-working day. It’s National Unity Day. This year, November 4 is a public holiday that falls on a Friday. Since it is followed by Saturday and Sunday, one can count on a shortened working week and a long weekend. We will tell you what event the memorable date is associated with and how we relax on the November holidays in 2022.

How many days off for the November holidays in 2022

Usually, a day off which coincides with a national holiday is automatically transferred to the working day following the holiday. Although it may be postponed by the Cabinet of Ministers to a later date, as often happens during the May holidays, which are “overgrown” with days due to other important dates. If you look in production schedule, due to November 2022 holidays, we are expecting a long weekend. Nothing is transferred anywhere. You should plan your vacation for the 4th to the 6th, having only worked four days before.

Plus, let’s not forget about a shortened workday. For the November 2022 holidays, the long weekend starts on Friday. Thursday, November 3 is considered a pre-holiday, when the duration of working hours is reduced by one hour. This is stated in Article 95 of the Labor Code. By the way, the salary does not suffer from this and is paid in full. Note that the one-hour reduction does not occur on the day or two before the public holiday – only immediately before it. Working hours remain the same for continuously operating organizations, medical institutions, media, public transport and other businesses with certain specifics. So what is the program for us:

  • Over 30 calendar days, 21 workers are waiting for us with a five-day work week.
  • In total, in November, we have to work 168 hours.
  • In total, there will be nine days off during the last month of autumn. These are the numbers 4,5, 6, 12, 13, 19, 20, 26 and 27.

While an impressive part of Russia rests on November holidays in 2022 for three full days in a row, we’ll tell you how it goes for those who work six days a week. They were much less fortunate. As part of the holiday weekend, they will only have the opportunity to rest on November 4 and 6, but on the 5th they will have to go to work.

November holidays 2022: how we relax and what we will celebrate

What is the November 4 public holiday?

Our grandparents and many parents remember the National Day in November, which fell on a different date. The anniversary of the Great October Socialist Revolution was celebrated on November 7 with demonstrations and concerts. But in 2004 came out right “On Amendments to Article 1 of Federal Law No. 32 “On Days of Military Glory (Days of Victory) of Russia”, according to which November 7 became the Day of Military Glory of Russia Article 2 of the same law was supplemented with a paragraph on November 4 – National Unity Day, so since 2005 the holiday of November 4 became a public holiday, and November 7 it was ceased to be.

National Unity Day reminds Russians of an important historical event. In 1612, Moscow was liberated from Polish invaders. The explanatory note to the law stated that on that day militia soldiers led by Kuzma Minin and Dmitry Pozharsky stormed Kitay-Gorod, driving out the Poles and ending the Time of Troubles. A new period began in the country, and in 1613 the newly elected Tsar Mikhail Fedorovich Romanov declared November 4 as the day of cleansing Moscow from foreign invaders. Three decades later, this day has become a religious and national holiday.

Representatives of all classes and peoples took part in the liberation of the Russian state. The militia gathered people without distinction of origin, religion and position in society. Therefore, in 2022, Russia continues to widely celebrate the November holidays, emphasizing the cohesion of different nationalities and true patriotism.

After the deliverance of Moscow from the Polish invaders, Prince Dmitry Pozharsky built the Kazan Cathedral at his own expense in the center of the capital.
