Architects teach how to design environments aimed at fun and comfort
The recreation area is an environment of the house where you can spend good times alone, with family or friends. It can be a space with a swimming pool, having a barbecue, playing with the children or even practicing physical activity. It is a place of residence that can be an intimate and welcoming refuge or a place for fun.

Architects Danielle Dantas and Paula Passos, managers of the Dantas & Passos Arquitetura office, bring some suggestions for those who are looking to design their own environment. According to the duo, “the house must not only be a place to live, it must also be open to fun, comfort and the welcome of those you like”.
Understand your preferences
Since people started staying more at home, the leisure areas in residences and condominiums have gained more importance for several factors, but mainly due to the lack of time and the security that only the home offers. This ease of enjoying, without leaving your address, is often the kick-off invest in these environments. But where to start?
The first step, according to professionals, is to outline the profile of the residents, so that the project matches their preferences. Free time as an activity can be configured in certain types, such as social, artistic, intellectual. “By identifying how people prefer to spend time, it is possible to shape environments,” says Paula.
Gym as a leisure space
The architects explain that academies have even become spaces for free time fundamental inside the condominium, because together with the care of the physical part, the practice of the exercises has a direct influence on mental well-being. Internal projects, if there is room, say it is super worth investing in materials or equipment that allow for weight training, yoga and meditation.
“Recreational areas are generally designed with the aim of bringing people together. But the research shared by our customers also includes activities that are practiced individually”, Daniela points out.

What can’t be missing?
Leisure should provide comfort and, as they are also very social environments, it is in your best interest:
- invest in armchairs functional and welcoming objects, such as cushions and rugs;
- Bet on environments with a casual and light style;
- Try to create a composition of sober environments so as to be able to welcome a visit;
- Try to think of a project that meets small and large events;
- Try growing a small garden to get in touch with nature.
Spaces for the recreation area
There is a lot of talk about building specific leisure spaces, but for professionals it is also possible to place leisure objects in the house. It could be something the resident appreciates and appreciates, like a mini bookcase, musical instruments or games. Know that it is possible to create leisure areas in any type of residence, large or small. A well-developed design will ensure a special environment, away from the routine and still add value to the property.
