Have you heard an expression in the gym but have no idea what it means? Here is the solution!
Leave doubts and insecurities aside when it’s time to start a new workout! With so many unfamiliar expressions and technical terms we encounter every day, having a fitness dictionary can help.

Important note: it is also good to have the autonomy to read the training plan that has been given to you, but nothing replaces the support of a sports professional. Regardless of whether you train together or not, a personal trainer will be the best person to clarify issues such as performing a certain exercise or ensuring the most correct posture.
FITNESS TERMS DICTIONARY
AMRAP
It stands for as many rounds / reps as possible. That is, the coach establishes an exercise and a tempo, and his goal is to repeat as many times as possible during the period.
DROP
Method used to accumulate more fatigue in a short time. It consists of selecting a challenging load (usually 10 to 12 repetitions) and doing it until failure (or very close to it). Immediately after that, take off some of the load (minus 20 to 25%) and immediately start doing more reps until failure.
BACKOFF SET
These are sets performed after lifting heavy loads, but with lower loads (they can have up to half the load). They can be used to add effort or to improve performance. For example, do four sets of squats at 100kg, then do one at 70kg until failure.
SET OF GROUPS
It consists of dividing the series into small blocks. For example, imagine loading a load with which you can only perform 10 repetitions. But do a few smaller sets of 3, 4, and 5 reps at a time, with short breaks in between. Therefore, you can accumulate more effort, more repetitions and keep the load very high.
EMOM
It stands for Every Minute to the Minute. In this method, each round will last one minute. The instructor gives you a task to do and a minute to do it. When that minute is up, another round begins immediately after and you will have to repeat the activity. That is, if you take 40 seconds to perform the activity, you will have 20 seconds of rest (until the end of the minute). If you do it all in 30 seconds, you will have half a minute of rest… And so on.
1RM
Maximum load you can handle for a single repetition.
RX
It means that the training should be done without any adjustments, i.e. as prescribed.
SETTING UP
It reflects the number of sets that the athlete must perform for a given number of repetitions, for example 3 × 10 corresponds to 3 sets of 10 repetitions.
time limit
It is a term used to define a time limit for carrying out a specific WOD (Workout of the Day).
