South American producers were also featured in the awards, with five Chileans, four Argentines and one Uruguayan in the top 50
The World’s Best Vineyards 2022 award elected the Italian Antinori nel Chianti Classico as the best winery in the world, out of a list of fifty establishments. The announcement was made on October 26th. The ranking was prepared by more than 500 judges (wine experts, sommeliers and tourism journalists of different nationalities), who took into account not only the quality of the company’s labels, but the entire work: the tours, the infrastructure, gastronomy, tasting, location, view: all this contributes to the visitor experience.

Antinori nel Chianti Classico stands out for many of these aspects. The Antinori family began producing wines in 1385 and, after 26 generations, owns nine properties scattered between Tuscany and Umbria. The one who won the award is inside San Casciano in Val di Pesain the middle of the beautiful Tuscan countryside Chiantiand since it was inaugurated in 2012, it is considered an example of innovation and sustainability.
First of all because it was built entirely with local materials. Secondly, because its canteen was designed to naturally guarantee the right temperature for storing wines. And, thirdly, for its visionary architecture, whose organic forms cause the building to mix and almost disappear among the hills of the region. At the same time, its large terrace allows you to contemplate the plantations of Sangiovese, Canaiolo, Ciliegiolo, Colorino, Malvasia Nera and Mammolo grapes.
Designed from the ground up to welcome visitors, the Antinori in the Chianti Classico organizes tours that present the history of the family, explain how a wine is born and promote the tasting of labels. Before or after it is possible to have lunch at the restaurant 1180, where the Tuscan classics are revisited. Both visits and meals must be booked in advance.
