Recognize how much affection surrounds you and stop fearing loneliness
Feeling needy is something that happens to all of us, it’s normal. The problem is that we often don’t know how to deal with this feeling. So, in this article, I share 3 tips to end the shortage.
1. Don’t just cover up the lack
Do you know how to deal with the need? Look here. Have you ever noticed that our culture practically requires that we are in a relationship or married, as if that were a guarantee of emotional fullness? But it is not!
Because of this belief and fear of loneliness, we become less selective and find ourselves relationships that turn into suffering from the illusion that we will be safe from need. But we don’t realize that we are still lacking in affection, begging for love and attention.
2. Look around you
When you feel needy, turn your gaze to other areas of your life: your family, your children, your friends, your colleagues. Recognize the affection encapsulated in small attitudes, such as someone making your favorite meal, that unassuming visit, or the free therapy someone gives you.
If you learn to recognize an affective attitude in small gestures, you begin to feel much more fulfilled and happy.
3. Learn to cultivate yourself
Equally or more important than being fed by others is learning to feed yourself. Appreciate your qualities and learn to recognize the interesting things you do, the amazing person you are!
Learn to make yourself small gifts, from a nice cup of coffee to a well-deserved vacation. But do it consciously, without activating the “autopilot”.
Couples who choose to share our lives as a couple will be much closer to satisfying us emotionally when we are driven by the desire to be together, rather than being driven by the need to satisfy our needs. Therefore, love yourself to be loved.
