Coronavirus cases have increased in recent weeks
Faced with the new increase in covid-19 cases, the state government and the City Hall of São Paulo decided this Thursday, 23, to resume the mandatory wearing of masks on buses, subways and trains from next Saturday, 25. It was adopted on the recommendation of the committee of experts advising the São Paulo executive in the decision-making process on the pandemic.
“In recent weeks, the State of São Paulo has shown a significant increase in the transmission of Sars-Cov-2, which is mainly reflected in the indicators of hospitalizations for COVID-19 in ward and intensive care beds, which in the last 14 days show a growth of 156% and 97.5% respectively, reaching a daily average of over 400 new hospitalizations”, reads the note from the Governing Council of the State Secretariat for Science, Research and Development in Health, a folder in the name of the infectious disease specialist Davide UIP.
The state government says it is recommending that the measure be implemented in all municipalities. This week, the National Health Surveillance Agency (Anvisa) established the mandatory use of face protection on planes and airports.
