Ingredients:

  • 3 tablets of fresh brewer’s yeast (45g)
  • 1 tablespoon of sugar
  • 1 tablespoon of brown sugar
  • 2 1/2 cups warm water
  • 4 tablespoons of oil
  • 1 teaspoon of salt
  • 2 1/2 cups (tea) wheat flour
  • 2 1/2 cups whole wheat flour (tea)
  • Oil and wheat flour for greasing and flouring

Method of preparation:

  1. In a bowl mix the yeast and sugar until dissolved.
  2. Add water, oil, salt and mix.
  3. Add the flours, mixing with a spoon until a homogeneous but soft dough is formed.
  4. Place in two buttered and floured medium English cake tins, cover and leave to rest for 1 hour.
  5. Place in a medium, preheated oven for 35 minutes or until cooked through and golden brown.
  6. Leave to cool, unmold, sprinkle with wheat flour
  7. If desired, serve immediately with cream cheese.
