The video shows the babies shortly after birth, and eighteen months later, the disparity between them remains. Try to figure out when it might indicate a problem
We know that twins aren’t necessarily identical—in fact, they don’t even have to look alike. This is because they can be the result of a single zygote splitting into two (one-egg), or two eggs, each fertilized by a different sperm (egg). But one case has garnered attention since it was shared on TikTok: a pair of brothers born through the same gestation, but with completely different sizes.
“Doctors said my twins have the biggest size difference they have ever seen,” wrote their mother, Ciara Weese, who lives with her family in Illinois, USA. In the photos, the young appear immediately after giving birth and, in fact, one is considerably larger than the other. While June, the girl, was born with 1.81 kg, Walker, the boy, was born with 3.17 kg.
Siblings are currently 1 year 8 months old and the difference remains – so much so that the little girl seems to be younger than her brother.

When the size difference can be a concern
June and Walker are fraternal twins (like all twins of different sexes), i.e. not identical. This basically means that they simply “shared” the same pregnancy, bringing different genetic backgrounds. “There are two eggs and two sperms, and what is striking in the video is that they keep the difference afterwards, so it is most likely a genetic issue, just as there are brothers [não gêmeos] which are higher or lower… It is within the range that we call ‘constitutional’. They are brothers who could have been born from different pregnancies, they are genetically distinct“, explains Dr. Igor Padovesi, gynecologist and obstetrician at the University of São Paulo and doctor at the Albert Einstein hospital.
The expert claims it the difference in size between twins is a warning sign when it occurs in cases of identical twins, even during pregnancy. “A more common cause of this situation is related to the intrauterine period. For example, when there are twins who share the same placenta, a potentially serious situation can arise, which is called twin-to-twin transfusion syndrome, as if one child steals part of his brother’s bloodstream, which causes one to grow a lot and the other to have stunted growth. But this doesn’t happen when there are two different placentas,” she concludes.
