See some common ingredients that can help increase muscle mass
There are different types of substances that help speed up results in the gym and promise to improve hormonal balance, such as steroids. However, these products can cause several health side effects. The most common are acne, hair loss, increased blood pressure, behavioral changes and organ function disorders. Therefore, including natural anabolic steroids in the diet can be a great alternative.
The nutritionist and lecturer at the Faculdade Anhanguera, Liliany Faicari, explains that some foods contribute to the natural construction of muscle tissue and the increase in lean body mass. “When we combine the practice of physical activity with a balanced diet rich in nutrients, our body responds with muscle progression and a reduction in the percentage of fat,” she says.
The follow-up of a nutritionist is essential for the preparation of a personalized menu, for each body type and routine. “Some people need more carbohydrates for hypertrophy, others need to concentrate the amount of protein in their meals, and only a graduate specialist will responsibly identify these needs,” she comments.
Natural anabolic options
Anhanguera’s teacher recommends the main foods for an anabolic and natural routine:
Egg. Egg recipes are always easy to prepare. According to the nutritionist, the protein concentration in egg whites averages 6 to 7 grams per unit. Furthermore, the food is complete in macronutrients and contains carbohydrates and fat in the yolk.
Oats. Oats are an ingredient well received by the palate of most Brazilians and help in the functioning of the gastrointestinal system, as explained by the specialist. “The protein food is indicated for coeliacs, as it is a gluten-free meal,” he adds.
Sweet potato. Sweet potato is rich in vitamin B, ideal for building muscle mass, as well as bringing the feeling of satiety. “The other tubers are also recommended for a complete diet and allow you to diversify your daily menu,” comments Liliany.
Fruit. “Since fruits have a low energy density, we can consume them eaten in large quantities,” reassures the professional. The varieties are rich in mineral salts, vitamins and high quality fats.
The oil. Vegetable oil is able to increase testosterone levels in the body and can correct the breakdown of macronutrients in the body, explains the teacher. “Because it’s an aromatic food, it adds flavor to meals,” she adds.
Red meat. “For people who don’t follow a vegetarian diet, including meat on the menu is a solution to increase creatine in the body, which helps muscle tone. Food is also a source of iron and fights anemia,” he concludes.
